What-if Modeling
Example

The example shown below, scrolls through a series of model permutations to illustrate the concept of "what-if modeling."

We built an inital model which defines one formula cell, B3, which it calcualtes using the formula "=B1-B2."

Subsequent model snapshots show the results as the user enters a value into the current formula cell which triggers a model permutation and recalculation of the new model. In each permutation, a different cell becomes the formula cell, i.e., we start at B3, move to B1 and B2, and back to B3 again.

Thus, in "what-if modeling," a single user defined model with one formula cell can be leveraged into several alternate forms. This leverage of a single model into multiple models, automatically, represents a significant productivity gain. When more than one formula cell is present the alternative model permutations increase geometrically and so do the productivity gains. These productivity gains can be expressed by the slogan, "write once, use many models."

"Write once, use many models"

YYou can enter values into formula cells, the model will change and then calculate a valid result!

Model I    - Solves for Income

Model II   - Solves for Sales

Model III  - Solves for Expenses

Model IV  - Solves for Income

This is the new paradigm in spreadsheets and modeling.
No other spreadsheet or modeling language can do this, and we hold the patent on it.

A single model consisting of a one or more equations can automatically change into any one of many
alternate models based upon the initial model.

Just enter a value into a formula cell and watch your model change.

In this example, entering the value 400 in cell A3 causes a model permutation. Cell A1 becomes a formula cell. After the model changes forms the value of 400 is used to calculate the new models results, i.e., 200 in cell A1.

What-if Modeling allows you to take control of your models in a way never before imagined.
